There are a whole bunch of other countries around the world which are not so energy rich, and therefore they do need uranium ... We have been selling uranium for many, many years and our policy [to lift the ban on opening new uranium mines] simply recognizes that new reality.

...what we have agreed -- again, as strong, long-term supporters of free trade around the world as one of the best drivers of global economic growth -- is to work very closely together in the months ahead to try and get a good, positive outcome for Doha -- good for our economy, good for the American economy, good for the global economy.

...marriage is between a man and a woman. And I made that commitment before the last election. We will honour that commitment. We support the removal of discrimination from same sex couples and from de-facto heterosexual couples when it comes to basic, basic arrangements in terms of tax, superannuation and the rest, and also a nationally consistent relationships register. But [...] civil unions mean the effective amendment of the marriage act, and that is something we don’t support.

You can't simply have, in my own judgment, creation simply being a random event because it is so inherently ordered, and the fact that the natural environment is being ordered where it can properly coexist over time. ... If you were simply reducing that to mathematically probabilities I've got to say it probably wouldn't have happened. ... So I think there is an intelligent mind at work.

[You are asking me to] provide a prediction about where house prices are going to be across the country over a period of time. I’m not in the business of doing that, that’s irresponsible.

People smugglers are engaged in the world's most evil trade and they should all rot in jail because they represent the absolute scum of the earth. ... [they] are the vilest form of human life. They trade on the tragedy of others and that's why they should rot in jail and in my own view, rot in hell.
