Is Barack Obama more likely to be assassinated than other US presidents?

Some people are concerned that Barack Obama, being black and having "Hussein" in his name, makes him an assassination target for bigots.

Now, I have a Secret Service detail at this point. So it's hard to pretend that you don't have big guys who are packing around you at all times. [...] it's not something that I that I am thinking about on an ongoing basis. I think that every presidential candidate, certainly every president these days is a potential target. And that comes with the job. And you take the precautions that are necessary and then you go about your business.

I firmly believe not necessarily that you'd be physically assassinated, but they sure would attempt to assassinate your credibility any way that they could, and not so much Barack. Barack is part of a Democratic Party. So he would be protected and shielded if he becomes their nomination. It's still the two-party system in this country. But if a true independent like me, a rogue, who had no strings attached were to look like he might win the presidency, I wonder what would happen to that person.

It's a worry. God forbid.

But he's also the most powerful man in the world, and I'm sure he and his wife haven't forgotten that he's black, so he's probably quite well taken care of.
