Is the case for anthropogenic global warming politically biased in its favor?

Anthropogenic Global Warming has become a huge multinational concern, with many people's career and credibility dependent on its truth. As such, some skeptics claim that scientists now fear that challenging the new orthodoxy can result in a lack of funding. Believers have pointed the finger to the fossil fuel industry for spreading misinformation about the facts, and criticized politicians uneasy dealing with the economic impacts of climate change for stonewalling.

I also advance that there are strong societal, institutional, and psychological motivations for having constructed and for continuing to maintain the myth of a global warming dominant threat.

To me, the worry is the subtler kind of bias that we indisputably know has led to scientific errors in the past. ... There is always a way to find what you're expecting to find if you look hard enough. ... There are other issues: selection bias in the grant process, papers with large results being much more likely to be published than papers with equivocal results, professors preferring students who agree with them, and so forth.

Anyone who believes scientists can’t be tainted by bias or corruption has a weak grasp of the constancy of human nature. Science is humanity’s Savior. I don’t want false prophets like Hansen as representatives of our last, best hope. I predict that in ten or twenty years when the dust has settled and the truth of AGW gets a more reasonable hearing than it has to date, we will look back on this sorry episode as one of the greatest attempted swindles ever foisted by the global elite on the masses.

Instead of recognizing the irrefutable evidence, this Administration has launched a war on science itself. Political appointees have censored studies on global warming, silenced climate experts. According to a survey by the Union of Concerned Scientists, nearly 3/4 of climate experts witnessed inappropriate interference in climate research.

No-one [of the skeptics I invited to discuss bias] said they had been refused a place on the IPCC, the central global body in climate change, or denied a job or turned down for promotion or sacked or refused access to a conference platform, or indeed anything else. If there is an anti-sceptic bias running through the institutions of science, it is evidently keeping itself well hidden.
